Hander

Handera is an engineering company, based in Iowa, US. Its focus is on engineering services, product development, and ODM Products with a particular focus on portable electronic devices and aggressive design schedules. From 1999 to 2003 Handera was a Palm OS licensee. It released two Palm OS devices - TRGpro and Handera 330. A successor of Handera 330 with color screen was close to production, but not officially released (1), (2).

Handera was one of the early innovators for the Palm Platform. Among their contributions to the platform were:

  • memory expansion - CF slot on TRGpro;
  • high resolution screens - QVGA screen on Handera 330;
  • dual expansion slots - CF and SD slots on Handera 330;
  • wireless connectivity - w-fi CF card option for TRGpro and Handera 330; bluetooth CF card option for Handera 330;
  • virtual graffiti area on Handera 330;
  • power options - rechargable li-ion pack, rechargable or alkaline AA batteries on Handera 330;
  • built-in speaker on Handera 330.

Handera probably contributed for ODM to other Palm OS licensees like AlphaSmart (1), (2) and Samsung (1), (2).
